An education in economics and a college sports career give Auto Show Chairman Steve Kurtz, President of Legends Toyota and Independence Honda, a unique approach to running automobile dealerships. A strong grasp of finance and the spirit of a team player and fierce competitor have positioned him for success as he develops the Legends Auto Mall in Kansas City, Kansas.
“My partner Mickey Anderson and I are committed to creating an environmentally friendly, technologically advanced auto mall where consumers receive superior customer service. In the spring we’ll relocate Independence Honda to the Legends Auto Mall making it easier to shop for Honda and Toyota vehicles in one convenient location,” said Steve.
Born and raised in Omaha, Steve graduated from Omaha Creighton Preparatory High School and attended Northern Illinois University on a football scholarship. He later transferred to University of Nebraska at Omaha and started his career selling cars at Baxter Chrysler Jeep Dodge. He became an equity partner in Performance Toyota of Lincoln in 2004 and moved to Kansas City in 2008 to develop Legends Auto Mall. Under his leadership, Legends Toyota has earned the prestigious Toyota President’s Award for three consecutive years.
In addition to his dealership responsibilities, Steve serves as President of the Automobile Dealers Association of Greater Kansas City. “It’s exciting to be part of an association that has served greater Kansas City for more than 100 years. In addition to putting on a first-class auto show, they are dedicated to making a difference in our community by supporting charitable and civic organizations,” said Steve.
Steve lives in Overland Park with his wife, Tina, and triplets Abigail, CeCe and Bo.
